There's a script at the userstyles.org site for making the customize toolbar window size adjustable to view more buttons - it also aligns them better.

I did an extensive Google search for a script to arrange them alphabetically but no luck so far.

Hi,

Thanks for posting. I hope others find that useful.

I did at one point start an extension that was supposed to change how the customize toolbar window worked. I should revisit it at some stage, just there is many other things competing for my attention. I was trying to create different ways of organizing them, and also sort them.

I doubt you will turn anything up by searching, my extension is the only one that really creates a need for it.

Somehow it's easier to find buttons when you can preview more of them at once.

The order seems so random, it's not even chronological. Opera has the same quirk, but at least it keeps the the new buttons in separate category.

It is the order in which the extensions are loaded. Which is going to look very random.
