I suggest the creation of a Rewrap button for use in the Compose window of Thunderbird and SeaMonkey's Mail-News component. Currently, Rewrap is an item in the Edit pull-down menu, apparently only in the Compose window.

The existing buttons provided by the Extra Format Buttons extension are for composing HTML-formatted messages. I only do plain-text (ASCII) messages. The Rewrap editing command is useful when quoting a message while replying or forwarding in the plain-text mode.

I see too many incoming messages that, when quoted, are one long line per paragraph. I frequently have to rewrap such messages so that recipients of my replies or forwarded messages do not have to keep scrolling right and left.

Ok that makes sense. I will do it up this afternoon, and then you be able to download it from the Custom Button Maker.
