Feature Requests and their Status
1. Linux support
- This is partly done. There are still glitches in it though. #DONE
2. Extra items in the menus
- I don't use some of the applications that the extension supports. If you can tell me why they should be there, I may add them.
3. Minimize application to tray after selectable period of inactivity
- This could be done (note to self nsIIdleService), and I am considering it
4. Minimize the application if the turbo icon is clicked. #DONE
5. Add short cut keys to restore a minimized window
6. Changing the settings like "Only display on icon" should be applied instantly.
7. A "boss key" and related functionality could be implemented.
8. Support for more applications like Instantbird, Chatzilla and Spicebird
9. Support for more platforms, such as 64bit Windows and [s]32bit Linux[/s]
10. Maybe a hidden setting for always start minimized.

Please post any of your feature requests here and I will update this post to reflect the current requests and extension's status.
Known Bugs
* On Linux there are problems with the tray menu of the icon created when the -turbo flag is used to start the application.
* Again on Linux windows are not restored to the same place as before they were before being hidden
* Empty tab sometimes opens http://codefisher.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2609

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
I'm not sure if you'd call this a feature or a bug, but with Thunderbird I notice that when it's minimized to the tray, when I get a pop-up alert for a new email and click on the alert, the Thunderbird window pops up then immediately minimizes back to the tray.
It'd be nice to just click on the pop-up and have the window open.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Yes I know, I have gone over kill on preventing the window from restoring. There are some cases where it wants to and I don't want it too, and some where it should.
Try version 1.0.3 at http://codefisher.org/download/minimize/ it will always let the window restore if something activates it.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
I just installed 1.03, but I get the exact same behaviour.
Oh well, it's a minor thing. This is still a really handy extension.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Ok, maybe I did not change everything I thought I had in that minor release. Next time then...

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Thank you for this great add-on that i use on thunderbird.
I'd love to see some new features:
1. ask the master password before restoring application
2. place icon on tray although it is not minimized and clicking the icon minimizes the application.
3. an option to place minimize icon on toolbar.
thanks in advance

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
1. I worry this could just lead to a false sense of security. I could just kill the process and open it again in save mode (no extensions enabled). Consider locking the screen instead.
2. There is already an option to always show the tray icon. I guess this could be extended.
3. There is already a toolbar button available in the customize toolbar window.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird" -turbo
it crashes
windows XP/Thunderbird version 2.0.0.23 (20090812)/MinimizeToTray Plus 1.03
also crashed when i maximized it just now
http://i26.tinypic.com/2sadwld.png -other addons
i think 'only ever show one try icon' should be reworded
+1 for Linux support
i use mail-notification as of not since we don't yet have it

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
If you have been following some of the other threads you would see that 1.0.3 is known to crash all the time. Fixed that in 1.0.4, and then another bug in 1.0.5
What wording you suggest?

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
been trying to i thought some were vista (hate the OS) specific
One of the flowing:
Only show one tray icon.
Only show one system tray icon.
Only show one tray icon at a time.
Only show one system tray icon at a time.
For people that don't know what a tray icon is:
Only show one tray icon. (By the clock)
Only show one system tray icon. (By the clock)
Only show one tray icon at a time. (By the clock)
Only show one system tray icon at a time. (By the clock)
or link tray icon/system tray icon to a picture or page
i honestly took a wile to figure out what it meant it read smother without the 'ever'

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Yes I guess the word "ever" does not really add much except possible confusion.
As to the request, no that is certainly not easily doable. Trying to mess with that could totally screw up everything.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
I think it would start go beyond what I want the extension to be.
Also when I checked the windows API for M$ windows it does not look like there is any easy way or doing it. So I guess if it can be done it would be horribly messy.

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Not sure if it's a known bug (apologies if so): with MinimizeToTray Plus 1.0.5 installed in Firefox 3.5.3, on restoring from the tray icon, the window is no longer maximised, as it was before being minimized to the tray, but is in the "restored" state.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Hi
Great add-on, very simple, but does what I expect from it.
One small request, though: When closing the last window with CTRL-W, Firefox closes instead of minimizing to tray. Can you please implement that?
Thanks, refi

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
I that sounds fairly easy to do. I will tray and get that fixed in the next day or so.
Note to self the functions are BrowserTryToCloseWindow() and BrowserCloseTabOrWindow()

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Lost your latest version of Minimize to Tray when upgrading Thunderbird to their latest version 3.0. Thought your version 0.7.5.3 would cover it, but getting the "not compatible" error. What is the time frame for one that will work with the new Thunderbird?

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
The current version on the extensions home page, 1.0.6 should install, and more importantly work. Anything in the 0.7 series is totally broken in anything based of Firefox 3

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
Sorry Micheal, dl'd and installed ver 1.5 and it works like a charm. Dunno why I didn't find this before. Apologize for the confusion on my part....

Re: Feature Requests and their Status
It is a bit harder to find when it is not on the add-ons page, so I should have posted a link. I will get it there soon I hope.
